When first meeting with new clients, I always want to
convey the message..."If it is muscle related, then massage therapy CAN and WILL help your horse".
I then proceed to do a complete evaluation, targeting some of the major muscles. Upon the completion of my evaluation
I will discuss my findings with you, and advise you of my opinion and how we should proceed with treatment.
Sessions typically take 45min - 1 hour, depending on the severity and cooperation of the four legged client.
*Keep in mind, that massage therapy is not a substitute for veterinary medicine
When
NOT to Massage
Shock
Massage lowers blood pressure and when the
horse is in shock, blood pressure is already low
Fever
The body's way of fighting
infection. Massage speeds up the metabolism and there could be a major healing crisis
Cancer
By speeding up the metabolism, massage could spread the condition which may be isolated
